One warm May afternoon in 2002, I met the girl of my dreams. I was on a diplomatic mission to Paris and Denise, a flight attendant covering first-class (and a first class flight attendant as well) had switched flights with one of her co-workers so she could return to France a day early and leave the noisy New York streets for her quiet apartment in a small village nestled in the mountains of the Dordogne province.

I was already gloomy, having had a frustrating morning at the Consoler's office. Denise noticed the weary look on my face, and decided to offer me a drink. As she leaned over to initiate the conversation an unruly child shoved her causing her to spill the hot coffee she held in her hand directly on my lap.Picture of Mark and Denise on their first trip to Boston - Valentines Day 2003

I lost it and rudely remarked that she should pay closer attention to her duties. She was apologetic and sincere even after my ridiculous behavior.

After I wiped myself off and cooled down a bit, I made my way over to her work-station and apologized for my rudeness. She accepted and I asked if she might let me make it up to her by buying her a drink when we landed.

We stayed at the airport lounge, drank and talked til 1 a.m. I spent every free minute of my 3 weeks in Paris with Denise. We've been together ever since.

Yeah right...

The real story is that after some "bad luck" with the usual methods of meeting people, each of us had decided to give an Internet service a try. We had signed up for a Match.com account and after a few weeks of coorespondence with some knuckleheads, Denise sent me a message that eventually sparked our mutual interest in each other.

We've been engaged since June 2005 and are excitedly planning a May 2006 wedding.
